Asbestos Testing

This is an example of the workflow of an asbestos project.

Asbestos testing, asbestos abatement design, and asbestos protocol is legally complex. Each situation is different and governed by a different set of laws and governing bodies.

See a sample List of Asbestos Containing Materials. (Cecelia – make this link to the new page titled Asbestos Containing Materials List.)

American Air Testing performs the following types of work:

  1. Asbestos Status Report
This is the most appropriate report to start your project if you suspect that any of the materials that are going to be disturbed contain asbestos.
  2. Asbestos Fire or Planned Demo
This is the most appropriate report if you have had a fire or are planning on disturbing through a demo process or fire reconstruction processes any the materials that are going to be disturbed contain asbestos.
  3. Post Asbestos Abatement Validation
This is the most appropriate report after your abatement work is completed. This report with testing is always done while the containment remains in place and no onsite reconstruction work of any kind has begun.

We price our services in two parts: 1) our Report with onsite inspection and testing, and 2) how many and what type of asbestos samples need to be analyzed by an asbestos accredited environmental laboratory. The inspection and history, as well as appropriate set of governing laws will determine appropriate lab testing.

Clients should have asbestos testing before disturbing in any way (like a demo) any of the materials on the List of Asbestos Containing Materials.

Preliminary asbestos and lead testing may be indicated before remediation or abatement.

Preliminary asbestos testing may be required before a building demolition permit is issued. John R. Riera holds a current CAC (California Asbestos Consultant) license which is accepted by all permit issuing bodies in California. John J. Reira holds a current SSR asbestos certificate. Michelle Riera holds a current SSR asbestos certificate.

All levels of government have rules and regulations regarding removal and disposal of asbestos. The EPA has stepped up their enforcement practices for both asbestos and lead. The health implications are well documented and are not included here or in our asbestos reports. If friable airborne asbestos is found in your work and/or living area, you should consult with your primary care physician or other medical expert regarding the health implication of your specific exposure. American Air Testing is not trained and does not perform any type or kind of medicinal assessments.

It is faster, easier, and cheaper to do it correctly initially than to be legally required to do it again later. Professional accuracy before any momentum.

Asbestos testing for fire damage and demolition permits is a service that AAT routinely performs.
