Ozone does not kill mold.
Over the years we have performed mold clearance testing on projects where ozone was tried. Every one of them failed.
The American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygenists (ACGIH) states:
“No gas- or vapor- phase biocide can effectively and safely remediate a microbially contaminated building because of problems with biocide deliver, efficacy, and toxicity.”
Don’t take just my word for it; here’s what the IICRC R520 2015 Reference Guide for Professional Mold Remediation.
Please consider that ozone is a greenhouse gas; let’s not purposely add more burden to our air.
If you choose a more traditional method for your health and the financial impact of choosing a method that won’t work and you will have to pay to have the mold remediation redone.
Here’s a list of environmental contractors that we have successfully worked with and know they are licensed, trained, insured, and do a good job. Always get three quotes, if possible. And do have a written contract that includes this: “Time is of the essence.” “If this mold remediation does not successfully pass validation testing, the remediation company will pay all additional expenses including testing and all additional remedial work needed. I retain the right to choose the mold verification company.”
