Drinking Water Testing

Drinking Water Testing for Lead

If your building was constructed after 1978 in San Francisco then, no lead should be present in your drinking water.  If your building had the plumbing completely replaced after 1978, then no lead should be present. However, if some of the original plumbing remains, and you have a child under 7, then lead drinking water testing makes sense for you.

If your child’s pediatrician or other medical professional has identified an elevated lead blood level in your child, then every source of lead should be investigated and corrected. This includes lead dust, interior and exterior, and lead solder and fixtures in the water supply.  Lead testing of the soil may also be appropriate. Infants and children can suffer irreversible brain damage from lead.

We are trained, licensed, and insured to perform lead inspections, testings, and clearances. We have experience with the Lead Division (NOVs) of the San Francisco Building Department. We take the responsibility of child safety very seriously.

Only the water between the main valve in the street in your building is of concern. There is a free report from the San Francisco Public Utilities Commision on the water quality delivered to your main. COVD-19 update. This free report for 2019.
